#5 - J. Jacobs: O 1+ TD (Tail best line)
Josh Jacobs found the end zone in his first game back, and now he gets a Carolina defense that's been one of the most vulnerable in football against running backs.
• Carolina allows 1.5 touchdowns per game to RBs, tied for 2nd-most in the NFL
• The Panthers allow a 76.5% red-zone touchdown rate, 5th-highest in the league
• Jacobs scored 15 total touchdowns last season, including one against Carolina, and scored again in his return last week
Carolina just surrendered 3 touchdowns to Tampa Bay's backfield, continuing its struggles against running backs. OddsJam's +EV tool is highlighting value on Jacobs' touchdown projection, and his proven scoring production makes him an excellent candidate to find the end zone again.
#4 - C. Hubbard: O 1+ TD (Tail best line)
Chuba Hubbard gets an excellent scoring matchup against a Green Bay defense that's struggled to keep running backs out of the end zone.
• Green Bay allows 1.3 rushing touchdowns per game to RBs, 3rd-most in the NFL
• The Packers allow 4.0 red-zone trips per game, tied for 5th-most in the league
• Hubbard has 4 touchdowns on 11 carries inside the 20, including 3 scores on just 4 attempts inside the 5
Hubbard has 6 total touchdowns in 6 games and plays 77.7% of Carolina's offensive snaps, 4th-highest among RBs. His heavy workload and consistent goal-line opportunities give him another strong chance to score against a vulnerable Green Bay run defense.
#3 - J. Coker: O 5+ Rec (Tail best line)
Jalen Coker gets a favorable coverage matchup against Green Bay, and his strong target rate against zone gives him an excellent opportunity to pile up receptions.
• Green Bay plays zone coverage on 76% of snaps, 5th-most in the NFL
• Coker draws targets on 27.4% of his routes against zone, the highest rate among Carolina receivers
• The Packers allow 14.1 receptions per game to WRs, 2nd-most in the league
Coker has recorded at least 5 receptions in 3 of his 4 fully healthy games, including two performances with 8 catches. Green Bay's zone-heavy approach plays directly into his strengths, giving him another favorable opportunity to reach this number.
#2 - C. Watson: O 5+ Rec (Tail best line)
Christian Watson continues to see consistent opportunities in Green Bay's pass-heavy offense, and Carolina's defensive tendencies create another favorable matchup.
• Green Bay passes on 62.7% of neutral-situation plays, 3rd-highest in the NFL
• Watson averages 8 targets per game and has recorded at least 5 receptions in 4 of 7 games, including last week
• Carolina allows a 22.8% perimeter target rate, 8th-highest in the NFL, while 69% of Watson's targets come from the perimeter
Watson already commands a 20.7% target share, and that role could grow significantly if Matthew Golden sits, freeing up his team-leading 25.5% share. OddsJam's Sharp Money tool is also picking up action on Watson's receptions projection, adding another interesting angle to his potential for increased volume.
#1 - B. Young: U 10 Rush Yards (Tail best line)
Bryce Young has shown very little rushing involvement this season, and Green Bay's ability to limit quarterback rushing efficiency creates another difficult matchup.
• Green Bay allows just 3.5 yards per carry to QBs, tied for 8th-lowest in the NFL
• Young has stayed under this number in 5 straight games, averaging just 4.8 rushing yards
• Young has 0 designed rushing attempts this season, the fewest among quarterbacks
Young's lack of designed rushing opportunities leaves him relying almost entirely on scrambles to generate yardage. With Green Bay limiting quarterback rushing efficiency and Young consistently finishing below this number, another quiet rushing performance looks favorable.
That’s the list. Week 8 kicks off at Lambeau Field with Panthers vs. Packers on Thursday Night Football, and we’ve got five spots to attack before kickoff.
See you out there,
-Joe
